Their Words
Lai Cheuk-Yan
Daughter of Court Residence resident
My mother has been at Wisteria Court for fourteen months now. When we first visited, I was struck by how quiet the house was β not in an unsettling way, but in the way a home should be quiet. The staff remembered her name before we had even signed anything. That told me something. She is calmer here than she was in her own flat, which I did not expect.

Kenneth Wong
Son, family relocated to Singapore
It is not easy to make this decision from overseas. What helped us was the Two-Week Settling-In Stay. My father spent two weeks there before we committed to anything. The family conversation at the end was thoughtful β the staff spoke about him as an individual, not as a category of person. We felt heard, and more importantly, he felt comfortable. He chose to stay.

Yuen Tin-Fung
Court Residence resident
The food is good. That was my first concern β I have always been particular about what I eat, and I worried it would be institutional. It is not. They asked me what I liked in the first week and the kitchen actually pays attention. The garden is also a pleasure. I sit there most mornings when the weather allows. It is a peaceful place to start the day.

Siu-Mei Chan
Niece arranging care for aunt
What I appreciated most was how honest the team was from the beginning. They told us clearly what they could offer and what they could not, which made the decision more straightforward. My aunt is not a medical patient β she is someone who needed a better home than she had. Wisteria Court understood that distinction immediately.

Man-Kei Lau
Son, Kowloon City
The Evening Wellness Programme was something we added after my father had been in Court Residence for a month. He had always found the evenings difficult β the quiet unsettled him. The programme changed that noticeably. He calls it his favourite part of the day now, which I would not have predicted. The staff who lead it have a particular gift for setting the right tone.

Patricia Ho
Daughter, Sha Tin
We have visited every weekend since my mother moved in. The home looks the same on surprise visits as it does when they know we are coming β which tells you something important. The staff are consistent, the kitchen is consistent, and my mother is more settled than she has been in years. We do not worry in the same way we used to.

Family Stories
Three accounts from families who took different paths to Wisteria Court. Shared with permission.
The Situation
An 82-year-old man living alone in Mong Kok after his wife passed. His children lived in different parts of Hong Kong and felt increasing concern about his isolation and the quality of his meals.
The Path
The family arranged a Two-Week Settling-In Stay. He arrived sceptical. By the end of the first week he was joining garden walks in the morning. The family consultation at the end of the stay was straightforward β he had already told them he wanted to remain.
Eighteen Months Later
Court Residence resident and Evening Wellness participant. His daughter visits every Saturday morning. Staff report that he has become something of a social anchor for other residents β the first to welcome a new face at the dinner table.
The Situation
A 76-year-old woman whose family was divided on the question of residential care. Some felt she was too young; others were worried about the family home she had managed alone for three years since her husband's passing.
The Path
She visited the home twice before the family made any decision. On the second visit she brought her own list of questions about the meals, the garden, and whether she could bring her own bedding. All were answered to her satisfaction. She moved in three weeks later.
Eight Months Later
The family member who was most hesitant now says he is the most reassured. She leads the Tuesday handicraft sessions and has taken a particular interest in teaching other residents traditional Cantonese needlework.
The Situation
A family approached us looking specifically for the Evening Wellness Programme for their 80-year-old mother, who was already living with a relative but found the evenings deeply unsettling since her health declined.
The Path
She joined the Evening Wellness Programme initially while continuing to live with family. Over time, and at her own pace, the family conversation shifted toward Court Residence. She moved in four months after beginning the programme.
One Year Later
The family credits the Evening Wellness Programme with having made the transition to full residence far gentler β she already knew the staff, the rhythm of the evenings, and where to sit when she wanted company. Moving in felt less like an arrival and more like coming home.
